About Us

WELCOME to Visitation Catholic School!

Visitation Catholic School, PreK-8th grade, has served the Chicago communities of Englewood and Back of the Yards since 1891, and is staffed by the Dominican Sisters of Sinsinawa, Wisconsin.

We believe that relationships are the heart of our ministry: relationships with students, relationships with parents, relationships among faculty and staff, relationships with alumni and our generous supporters, and relationships with the surrounding communities. We believe in collaboration as a guiding principle when working with our constituents.

Please use our web site to learn more about our school and the important ministry we provide to children and families that need academic and spiritual guidance to reach a better future.

Our Philosophy

Catholic education is an expression of the mission entrusted to the church by Jesus Christ. As a Catholic school, we hope to realize the threefold purpose of Christian Education to teach doctrine, to build community, and to serve.

We believe that collaborative efforts on the part of parents, teachers, administrators, students, and the Church are essential to the coming together of a Community of Faith. We are a compassionate community that Serves, Prays, Learns, and Cares for each other.

Visitation students will be educated and guided in a holistic environment of learning to become intellectually competent, morally and spiritually informed, and emotionally healthy in their relations with God, the world of information, and each other.

The Catholic education that we provide at Visitation Catholic School will continue to encourage and inspire students with a passion for learning, a passion for peace and justice, and a passion for personal holiness.
